a6500 + SEL35F14Z?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone offer experience using this combination? I am interested in f1.4 lens as I understand 24/1.8 unfortunately does not offer full AF functions on a6500, but I have not yet received my a6500 body to confirm this. I am just preparing to go another direction should it be the case.

here is what I read on the 24/1.8 with a6500, '1) AF drive speed settings can't be changed in video mode and the continuous AF is very slow; 2) The little "snow flakes", as Gary Fong calls them, don't show up in continuous AF tracking

Which lens specifically are you referring to?

What subject are you shooting?

Is this for still or video?

The AF drive focus settings can't be changed while video is recording. That's true for most SLRs regardless of the lens so it's probably true for A6500. It's very rare that you'd need to change from AF to MF while recording. If you do, you'd typically stop recording first and only begin recording after you're back in focus.

I'm uncertain what Gary Fong is referring to. The "little snowflakes" sounds like ISO. I don't know how the lens could possibly effect this.
