Riaz
HI guys, I am considering to buy an A6500 and a Zhiyun Crane gimbal. I want to use the A6500 for video and spherical 360 photography (for Google Street View). The gimbal can be mounted and remote controlled to make a horizontal turn. Do you know if it is possible to make a (preferably one-shot) full spherical 360 picture with this set up using the Panorama Sweep mode? Thanks in advance. Username
No, it's not. Not in a single sweep anyway. The camera will report error if you sweep either too fast or too slow, and the correct speed range is pretty narrow. 360 would require you to sweep too fast and result in an error message. Correct sweep speed allows time for about 150 degrees, +/-, depending on lens, with horizontal camera. Vertical camera will sweep a narrower angle. Dollanganger
Not that I know of for stills. In my opinion gimbals for SLRs are a lot more difficult to use than they're made out to be. I tried to use one with my SLR for a solid year! Even when I did finally get the hang of it it resulted in so many outtakes I had to edit out that it just wasn't worth it anymore. That's what they don't show you online, all the outtakes! I had better stability buy using a large strong elastic camera strap and wrapping it around my body. $200+ for a gimbal? Sony offers camcorders like the PJ540 and PJ670 or AX33 with gimbal lenses. These work MUCH better and are very easy to use. Also the camcorders offer some features that SLRs don't (and can't under the EU tax code, this still applies no matter where you live since they're all made this way by every brand). I got a PJ540 and never looked back. That said, Sony's mirrorless SLRs are still by far the best for video.

I thought it could have been a fast and simple way to create a 360 without stitching software. But it isn't. I have also contacted the Sony support and they also confirm that there isn't a Sony camera that is able to make a 360 panorama. I am considering to buy a camcorder (i think it will be the jvc gy-hm170, because of the xlr-connectors and ability to shoot 4k) for video, mainly because the sony dslr's have overheating problems. If Sony could fix this and also offered a paid update to record 30+ minutes, like Panasonic does, it would have been a very reliable camera, even for professional use. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it! Verstuurd vanaf mijn LG-H850 met Tapatalk
