Sony 28 - 135mm f/4 SZ vs Sigma 24 - 105 mm f/4 Art lens

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Trying to think of a good lens to use as the work horse on a A7S ii and so far I'm thinking of the Sony 28 - 135mm f/4 lens or the Sigma 24 - 105mm f/4 Art lens. While the Sony is a lot more expensive then the Sigma (around £1400 more) I'm wondering is it worth paying £1400 more?

My main use will be video but I will also want to take stills, which I'm guessing the Sony may be too bulky to be used hand held for long durations, but the Sony would look more professional when shooting for clients.

As anyone used both and could give me their opinions on them?

Thanks

Matt

I own the Sony 28-135 PZ. Here are some of its advantages over the Sigma 24-105:

- Servo zoom

- Parfocal

- Internal focusing

- Declickable aperture

Both are very sharp. The Sigma has an advantage on the wide end, the Sony has an advantage on the long end.

If you can afford it, the Sony is almost always going to be the better choice.
