First day with A6500

I'm sorry for posting it in Dutch..In my enthusiasm I totally forgot to post in English..

I've been shooting with my A6500 with SEL1670Z and I loved it. It was a foggy day in The Hague, so got some nice shots.

The A6500 response sharply and accurate. It was a little bit awkward in the beginning (switching from my A77). Especially because the viewfinder is off center.

The EVF and (touch) screen works great.

A few of my pictures are posted on my site http://www.timoo.nl/a6500-testshoot/.

All shot in Raw and processed in Lightroom

I've set it as follows:

C1: ISO (why? I removed de ISO from de dial button, because I accidentally press it while taking pictures

C2: Foucs mode

C3: Online Help (Not because I really need it, but it's the only location to place the online help...) It's not in a menu, you have to put it on a button. I've not used it often, but help is available when needed.

@isurfer: nice suggestions for playback voor C1. But why for C2 as you have a special button for it?

furthermore I customize de Fn menu:

LiveView Display

Focus Mode

Focus Area

Smile/Face detect

ISO

Metering Mode

Flash mode

Peaking level

SteadyShot

The last three, I haven't used a lot, but maybe handy:

Creative Style

Quality

Picture Effect

The DISP button:

Set 'Right/ISO'  to none - because I accidentally press it while shooting

Curious how others have set there camera!

@isurfer: nice suggestions for playback voor C1. But why for C2 as you have a special button for it?

I set C2 to ISO cause I initially disabled the wheel on the back. I think I was using the to zoom in and out when viewing. When doing so the other functions of the wheel (such as ISO) would pop up and interfere with my zooming. Now that I figured out the C1-C2 thin in playback for zooming in and out I might have to reconsider this configuration. I'm not using the wheel for zooming anymore. I guess I could reassign the wheel functions to their previous settings and free up the C2 button in shoot mode for something else. In all honesty I don't think I need any other custom buttons. The Fn button covers almost everything! I never have to go into he menu system.

Disregard my post above re: C2. I misunderstood your question. Basically I've changed the function of the actual "enlarge" button that is on the AF/MF-AEL switch on the back. I'm using it for back button focus. I then have the C1-C2 buttons in playback mode set as outlined above.

Looks like you've done the same thing in disabling the Right/ISO from the wheel. I was hitting it by accident as well. I've actually disabled all the wheel functions.

Hi! 'Just registered recently. I've been poring posts about Sony A6500 I'm looking forward to get. I'm not a beginner in photography. Rather, I am ditching my DSLRs for smaller rangefinder mode camera like the Sony A6500.  So far, I'm leaning  to Sony A6500 in spite of the reviews that it cannot compare to bulky DSLRs towards extreme conditions like higher ISOs and Sony's "weak" JPEG color values, etc.

The photos in  http://www.timoo.nl/a6500-testshoot/ are superb.

Just purchased Sony A6500 with 10-18 Sony Wide-Angle lens to be mounted on Ikan 3-axis stabilizer for creating walk-thru video tours of residential real estate.  Previously used GoPro Hero 4 Black mounted on Feiyu 3-axis stabilizer.  While good results for past 2 years; looking to improve quality.

Camera, lens, stabilizer arrive Tuesday; video shoot appointment on following day.  Does anyone have recommended settings that will get me thru the first use before taking time to start learning curve? Will be shooting in 4K and converting to 1080 HD in post.
