Weighing the FS7 II

When the F55 replacement debuts, I think we'll see what's in store for the FS7 III (or whatever they call it).

In the US, the FS7 II is $10K, and the FS7 is $8,500, so here, the FS7 II would be my choice. In Europe I think the FS7 II is on par with the C300 II. (I'd still got with the FS7 II over the C300 II, but fewer people would).

I wouldn't be surprised to see Sony's 42 MP FF sensor in the F55 replacement. It would be able to do 8K, and the sensor is so much more advanced than anything Sony makes in video cameras right now (including the F65, imho).

"True HDR" will be a huge selling point, and so will HFR 4K-- as well as an RGB SR 4K codec. (My guesses.)

The huge improvements made to the read speed on the 42MP sensor for the new a99II seem to tell me more is in store for that sensor. I don't think Sony would've gone to all the work to make that 42MP sensor so fat jut for the a99II.

I also think the F55 replacement will ditch the FZ mount and use the new "PL" e-mount debuted in the FS7 II. Sony has so much excellent (and expensive) glass now for FF e-mount. I'm sure they want to sell it to the mid/high tier video segment.
