Hi,

Has anyone tried out both versions of the Tamron 150-600mm A-mount lens on the A7Rii with the LA-E3 adapter?

I have the old version of the lens and I would like to hear from anyone who has experience with both versions about whether there are any differences in autofocus speed or accuracy with the new G2 version of the lens when used in this particular way (adapted onto E-mount).

I have read the reviews of the lens and the press releases so I understand the differences in the new version, but would really like to hear from someone who has personal hands-on experience with both versions.

Thanks!

I use a Sigma 50-500 on my 77ii and it's a great combination for wildlife work. 50mm allows you a decent angle of view to pick up targets over a wide area (which 150mm doesn't) and then to zoom in quickly to get your shot. Keep within f8 to f11 and you'll get pretty decent sharpness. Yes there is some lens distortion, but as there are no birds and animals that I know of with nice straight wings, heads and bodies, who cares. If you do then Lightroom lens correction will soon fix it. Many will argue against super zooms but this big fellow allows you to gets shots that primes or zooms with a smaller range never will.

One bit of advice though, combined with the 77ii, It's a big heavy beast so get in some weight training!
