Missin Air 1 and Nissin Air R binding

I recently purchase the Nissin i40 flash for my Sony A7Rii. I also purchased the Nissin Air Receiver and Air 1 Commander so I could do some OFF camera work.

My readings said to bind the 2 requires the Commander and Receiver be updated to the latest levels. I sent both devices to the Nissin dealer and, I believe, all sorted.

But, following the instructions, I cannot bind the two devices. does anyone have any idea how one does this. Any help would be appreciated

This flash is pretty annoying to use.  You have to turn both the flash and commander off.

 

2. Press and hold the set and power buttons at the same time for about 3 seconds until you hear a beep.  Then press and hold the air1 Commander and power button at the same time for 3 seconds until the flash button begins to blink orange.

The Di700 should stop beeping which indicates that its done.

The i40 does not work with the air commander, you need the i700.

The set up you have works, but the Sony A7Rii needs a little workaround:

You have to set the Flash Mode to WL (Wireless)

The distributer told me not to use reloadable batteries in the Air Commander and the Air Receiver.
