This was my first time in Yellowstone.  It was pretty neat during Elk mating season, their mating calls are so eerie and cool.  Especially at night.

I heard this bull calling, and I immediately stopped.  I could tell he was getting closer, so I got the camera ready.  Sure enough a minute later he poped out of the woods right in front of me.  He was just magnificent.

He walked into the clearing and started digging up the ground with his hooves and antlers, opening up a big mudhole, that he then proceeded to lay down in.  He chilled for a few minutes (literally), then got back up and went back into the woods.  But not before making a few more of his signature mating calls.
