Ideal lens for video (first lens purchase)

Hi all,

My first post here. Basically I've decided upon the Sony A7R II for making a little movie and I'm looking to buy a lens. My initial thoughts are for a good all-rounder lens, such as the 24-70 but I need advice as I wish to also buy a gimbal for making the film (so the lens can't be too big/heavy). So, with this in mind, what lens would you advise. It has to be a good all-rounder.

At the moment I'm leaning towards the 24-70 /f4

This is the gimbal I'd be looking at getting (decently priced, and the reviews are good too).

Just as an alternative - consider two Samyang cine primes. Manual focus (a +/- depending on what you need/want). I have the 24mm and 85mm T1.5 on my A7S and enjoy using them - especially with a follow focus on tripod. I also have the 7.5mm which I use with the MFT BMPCC on a steadicam (the large dof coupled with crop factor is important).

In no way intended to imply that these are superior to your own suggestion but just to give you something different to think about.
