ausdlk
new to this forum... I've updated my a7sii to the v2.1 firmware which I understood supported 4K RAW video recording... Am I misunderstanding? I don't see any new options in the camera's menus. Is 4K video always saved as an .mp4 file? This is a lossy format. Is there no lossless format supported? Can anyone suggest a good how-to video tutorial covering 4K video for this camera? Thanks in advance. -- Dave.

A 128GB card would hold about 3.5 minutes of material if it could actually accept the 500+ megabyte/sec data stream. The closest you could practically get to that would be using an external Atomos Shogun recorder: https://www.atomos.com/shogun/ That is why 4k video is typically saved as a compressed file for in-camera recording, typically using the H.264 codec. See below calculator for estimating various video bit rates and file sizes: http://toolstud.io/video/filesize.php?imagewidth=1920&imageheight=1080&framerate=25&timeduration=60&timeunit=seconds Editing 4k video smoothly also requires a very powerful computer.
