How are you managing to focus it ? Do have a

reasonable focus range, like 3ft to infinity, with

whatever hardware is involved ? Looks like a

really useful lens thaz worthy of any hardware

expense that might be encountered.

Is the whole assembly reasonably tidy, not too

bulky ? I hardly use my 105/1.8, which would

deliver essentially the same imagery as your

Rodenstock, cuz it's kinda like a beer can full

of rocks, bulk-and-weightwise :-(

Golem,

on a7rII easy to focus any lens: just make right focus distance for in-camera sensor stabilization - and, no misfocus images, at all.

I use Mitakon at f/0.95 - without misfocus.

I use custom adapter for Sony E (made from old japan lens) and custom hood. Lens-master made it for me. Not so bulky. Like normal manual lens, but without aperture.

Lovely! A tad soft compared to modern portrait lenses but very, very nice. Jealous you've got such a wonderful custom lens and it actually isn't as big as I'd thought! You say it was a technical lens. Does it cover the whole image circle or the A7R?

Yes, this lens has full cover of 24×36mm sensor. On my a7rII I shoot in full frame mode.

Seems to be a very tidy operation ! Any question of "slight softness"

is really meaningless for a 2X tele at f:1.6, cuz there's not enuf DoF

to take advantage of any ultrasharp lens, unless photographing very

textured flat surfaces absolutely perpendicular to the lens axis. If a

lens is stopped down for reasonable DoF, only then would critical

sharpness actually show up with a 3-D subject. Since this lens has

no iris, it need not be critically sharp. "Decently sharp" is plenty enuf.
