With the benefit of IBIS, plus a pretty decent ISO 3200.

Wide open. Zero post. Only crop is the wide-long format

and about 10% shaved offa the right edge of the 4th pic.

I'm no anti-crop cultist. I'm just stating that these show

the way the old lens delivers, without any meddling !

  

It's a Maxxum AF lens, so on the LAEA3 all focus is MF.

Just as well. I never trust SLR/SLT AF at such minimal

DoF and the LAEA4 is an SLT device. Anyway I couldn't

really spare the 1/3 EV lost thru the LAEA4. I'm already

down to 1/50 sec at 105mm :-(

This was for publication, so there's about 120 frames, allowing the layout folks to find exactly the right shot for

any position on the page. Acoarst it's a priority to show the players actually playing, but I really like a few that I

grabbed when they're not playing at that moment. The close shot of the cellist could very well be during a tune

but not during a specifically cello passage. I don't recall. But the long-wide shot clearly is between tunes, as  

you can see that nobody is playing. I really dig the few non-playing shots for how they show personalities. The

bassist always looks bored. It's in the job description !

The bass player seems to wear the standard bass player trouser to - a bit to wide and to wobbly. This seems to be in the job descripion to for (classical trained) bass players all over the world (sorry bass guys :-))

The flute player needs to keep her sweater on. I use my old Maxxum lenses professionally from time to time. They are wonderful. My favorite is the 24mm prime. However, I am really amazed how sharp the 70-210 beerc an lens is. You can pick the lens up for about $60 on ebay. A wonderful bargain
