Hello, Ive just recieved my MC-11 and a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary in Canon Mount, and Im doing some testing today to see if this combo is any good. So far Rishi at DPreview seems to be spot on regarding AF-C, but Im not sure if its PDAF or some kind of magic trick yet. I have done a short video of AF-C and one of AF-S.

Af-S, AF-C is working. AF-S seems as fast as my a6000/Sel55210 combo. setting lens to "Manual Override" (one of three options on AF/MF/MO on lens) makes Focus magnification kick in whenever you touch focusing wheel while focusing! Fantastic imho.

Ill get back with more info later. I have to run out in the woods now to test the combo out.

Combo seems to use PDAF, and tracking feels like it did on a6000. I am sure someone with better technical knowhow will test it out further, but I think this is a mini-revolution in regards to E-mount and available lenses.

Ive done some "wildlife" shots today (without finding any "wildlife"), and I have uploaded images and comments on Flickr:

Testing AF-C while filming:

Chattering / low frequency buzzing is from lens. Does not go away even if you turn of OS and AF. Bad for video-people...

Testing AF-S while filming the combo using a camera that couldnt focus close enough:

Fairly fast. Faster outside in good light. I think it is as fast as a6000 was...

Thanks for the early report. Have you used the Metabones before? Can you compare the speed?

I can already see that the Sigma does not grey out the autofocus options in the menu from another video (

), and the MF override option is a big plus too.

Dang it, I think I might just get this...

Sorry, never used the Metabones adapters. I cant see how any adapter would be faster than MC-11. It feels like native sony. Or a hair slower...

I would get it. If you have or want any of the Sigmas :)

How is the AF-C with still photography in your opinion, especially at the long end (450-600 mm)? I'm considering this option but need AF-C for birds etc. I've seen mixed reports in this regard.

Do you still have your a6000? Would you mind testing it on that too? At the moment I'm using an a6000 with 55-210 but may move to A7x sometime. For me it's either this option or the new FE 70-300.

It seems Sigma is planning to release some fw-updates for lenses in the coming months to increase af-performance with mc-11. Hope they manage to fix the last couple of glitches.
