Eye AF with adapted lenses?

Eye autofocus won't be supported with that Lens. Currently the only third party lens adapter that will support that degree of AF is the yet to be released Sigma one which will support eye AF on Canon and Sigma mount lenses. I'm not sure what the details of the Minolta lens are but if it's a screw drive lens then you will need the LE-EA4 adapter. That will give you continuous phase detection AF. Hope this helps.

The Minolta 70-210/4.0 is a Maxxum era screw

drive lens. That means LEA4. As to "eye-AF", I

wouldn't know, cuz I found it annoying back in

the Maxxum days and never used it since then.

If my A7II has "eye-AF", that's news, to me.

It sure helps, thanks. The reason I'm asking is because I found Eye AF very handy when I shot a toddler recently (what a weird sentence). It worked great with my Sony A7 II + FE 4/24-70, but I'd like shallower depth of field, so that's why I'm thinking of buying into the Minolta AF system - lots of great fast and affordable AF lenses. But alas, no Eye AF. Oh well, maybe I'll go for it anyway. I don't shoot toddlers THAT often.

Yup, it's LA-EA4  - if I decide to go down the Minolta line. A7 II has Eye AF, yes, and I think it's a great feature to have sometimes.
