A7SII Issue - Inconsistent Color in Photos

I have a new A7SII camera and was taking photos tonight and noticed a very severe problem. I would take multiple photos in succession, and they would all turn out looking different with drastically different color balances; some would be too blue, some too red, all over the spectrum. All of my shooting settings were generally set to manual, and I was shooting mostly on "M" mode, although I briefly switched over to "auto" and it still gave me the issue. 

 

Has anyone else experienced this? Below is a link to view a couple example photos so you can see the color shift that I'm talking about.

Did you use "Auto WB" by any chance? If so, just set it on an appropriate setting for the light you're in or, better still, shoot a gray card (or a white piece of paper in a pinch) and create a custom white balance.

Thanks for the response. However, my WB was totally manual and I was setting exact kelvin temperatures for what I wanted. However, after testing it further tonight at home, I was unable to immediately recreate the issue. I'm suspecting that the problem was actually the bright industrial lights overhead that may have been causing a color shift between photos, but I'll look into it further.

Colour shift at sports venues is well known under some stadium lights, could be the reason?

Not taken lots of photos in quick succession, but I find the A7sii to have very reasonable colour - nothing out of the ordinary colour balance wise

What was the shutter speed when the problem

occurred ? It could be the pulsing of the light

source. I've encountered exposure differences

within sequences, altho no color differences,

but maybe some light sources vary not only by

intensity but also by color due to AC pulses.

 

If you can see the problem at about 1/100 sec

but it goes away at 1/15, and especially if it

recurs by returning to 1/100, blame the lights.

 

In between 1/15 and 1/100 sec is a sorta vague

situation where just by chance a problem may,

or may not, occur every time you test for it.

Thanks all for the responses. Yeah, thinking it's the lighting to blame the more that I look into it. I was just concerned at first since it was the first time using the camera for photos. I was doing fast shutter at around 1/200 - 1/400 I think. I'll just avoid shooting at that location again! Haha.

More and more locations will become problematic as

new lighting technologies are deployed. But it's

always related to the AC pulsing. Just learn to use

slower shutter speeds. Obviously this won't work so

well for fast indoor sports action ...
