There was a problem with the A7RIV and the 200-600. However, it was eventually isolated to a particular non-default setting. I do not remember what the setting was, but you should be able to find it. I do not know if the A7RIVA has the same problem. -

Thank You Tadwil!! That helps a lot with my decision on which one to buy! Looking forward to trying the a7R after after some frustration with my Nikon Z6II! Might be switching brands- Again! -
You are correct. From the next generation on, the grip was beefed up and the shutter release was moved to the grip, improving the ergonomics greatly. Also from second generation and beyond, IBIS was added to the camera, which imo is of greater improvement over the first gen A7xxx bodies.
