Capture One Pro 9 for Sony

What I don't understand is why, when I select an image in the Browser, CO will generate an image in the View, which takes some seconds, and then each time I select that image again (in the Browser), CO will generate the image again - which seems pointless as no parameters are changed and slows browsing of images down. I use a iMac 5k, which has a lot of pixels, so this continued behaviour of the Browser is really a disappointment.

Its such a pain that I'll probably go the the backups and restore the C18 catalog. The update brings me nothing so far      will keep looking a little bit ...

I don't seem to have this problem. All my referenced files are on a very fast LaCie connected to my Mac via Thunderbolt; everything is fast...

What do you have set for Display Scaling (Mac->Preferences->Display) and C1 Preview Size (Preferences > Image > Cache > Preview Image Size)?

I've just played with these settings and noticed vastly different performance. A little better or a lot worse.

What I've also noticed is that, if I select the first image in the Browser and then use the "Down Arrow" to browse the catalog, the performance is X.

However if I select the bottom image in the Browser and then use the "Up Arrow" to browse the catalog, the performance is X * 2, but even more interesting is that in this case it seems like C1 generates the displays the preview twice!!! You don't see the second one (since the first one is the same and already displayed, its just one on top of the other) BUT the donut does a second spin for the same time as the first.

Aside from figuring out the correct settings to use ... which I sill don't know but am looking ... I think there are intrinsic problems with Preview generation and caching.

C1Pro 9 looks not very stable to me, at least on my computer.

I can't save a default profile. If I import a new pic, it shows me sometimes the generic one, sometimes old profiles, that were the default once (but are deleted a long time ago) and sometimes the one I set as default, but with a strange string of numbers as name.

Same with the keywording, it shows strange combinations with cascaded keywords (keywords like "people>family" but it should be "people" with "family" as a child. And reorganising them, ends up in a mess.

At the end, I thought, there is an issue of memory, because of the rather large catalog. but even in a single session with only 1 picture with 2 variants I can reproduce most of the issues.

As there are no others complaining, it looks like I should try to reinstall anything and import anything new and see then. I will try that tomorrow.
I'm glad now, that I accidently bought a new licence (50€) instead of an upgrade (40€). So I can use C1Pro 8, until they get fixed all that. :)

Hi Guys,

I have recently acquired a Sony A7R II.

If I would get Capture One Pro 9 (for Sony), do you know if I can also with it open my other raw files such as .cr2 and .raf as well or its strictly just for .arw use?

Thanks!

You want to buy the Sony version of C1 and wonder if it will work with other cameras? That's a stupid question        You can edit JPG's from any camera with it, and perhaps only Minolta RAW files (saw it once mentioned), that's it.

Usually it is best to wait awhile before adopting the new capture one upgrades. They are a bit buggy at first.

Andrea posted this but I case you did not see it I will repost here.

Capture One is great capture software, although somewhat quirky, but they do not have any loxia lens profiles. They do have batis profiles, by the way.

I have asked them to make the loxia profiles, and they claimed that there is not enough people asking for them.

I was hoping that, maybe, if some of your readers queried them, we might get some profiles.

As a professional photographer I really hate to switch to Lightroom, which does not have quite as powerful abilities.

Then why would the price for the "C1 Pro 9" and "C1 Pro 9 for Sony" be the same if one software covers many cameras and one covers just one? I thought that the "C1 Pro 9 for Sony" is just more adapted for the Sonys (if tethered is needed for example), but should be able to open and edit these other raw files as well. Otherwise there should be versions such as "C1 Pro 9 for Canon" only or "C1 Pro 9 for Nikon". I do not understand the value of the software if only does one?

OK, the next question is if "C1 Pro 9" can do Sony as well as other brands?

just a feedback to my issues:

I cleaned up my whole catalogue yesterday and it looks like some pics were in the catalogue but not in the C1-filestructure (the integrity check, while doing a backup, didn't show them). After removing them and all the LR-processed-to-C1-imported shots, C1 started to work stable, fast and all functions works now perfectly.
