Wireless remote control from windows?

Hello!

I have an A7, and i am using the playmemories mobile app for android a lot.

Recently I have bought a netbook/tablet that uses windows 8.1 (Full version, not RT), and i really want to use it to remotely control my camera in the same way that i use my phone.

Is there any app that can do that from windows? I don't need live view, but at least it would be great to be able to release the shutter remotely without a cable...

So, anyone know of a solution?

Hi,

I don't know if it will run on a computer as well (I'm on mac), but for Windows Phone 8.1 there is this app called "M2 Sony Camera Remote" that should do the trick.

Check it out here:

Hope this helps!

EDIT: this is the same url without the http, because it is causing trouble to the blog backend and not showing properly

 This might be more use:

 Playmemories for Windose 8+

Just getting my a7R up and running on my Android phone, and saw this in passing. I bought a Sony Xperia Z Ultra mainly for this camera. It's working very well with it's 6.4" screen, it's a monster phone and a great camera remote viewer.

It would be awesome, but this app doesn't work for a tablet with full windows. :-/

Thanks to both of you for the replys! :D

That app is for Windowe 8.1, full Windows. You have to go to that site with the tablet to get the app.

I am thinking that this link posted

http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-us/app/playmemories-mobile/aa02c3cf-3662-430d-91b4-0cfabdf06daf

Is not working for anything. Tablet, Full windows, RT, or Windows Mobile 8. I think the app is just dead.

The m2 Camera remote works,, but takes some serious fiddling to get it to work. Shooting direct to a tablet or phone seems to be out of the question with dealing with Windows 8.1+

Thanks for all the replies. I tried bluestacks, and that is the closest I got. The app works, but it won't read my network and therefore can't find the camera.

I have given up for now, and will wait for someone else to pick up the apk from sony and make a good app for Windows 8.1

You could try plugging the camera into your tablet, then using a wireless keyboard and Capture One Pro.

The wireless keyboard, one with a touch pad attached, will allow you to do everything on your tablet. You only need to be able to see the screen on the tablet to do stuff...

Thanks for the tip, but that would be way to much hassle, because i need to buy a keyboard and bring it with me when i need it. It'll be easier to just use my phone as a remote, and use a card reader to get the photos to my tablet

If you just want to trigger the shutter then a simple IR trigger should work. They sell on ebay from 10 dollars and upwards. Sony makes several models too IIRC.
