This is a common bird in my area but until recently I hadn't gotten any photos I like of this species.  I recently bought a Canon FD 300mm f/4 L and tried it on the a7II

 

 

The lens shows some lateral chromatic aberration but it can be corrected in Photoshop.  IMHO for those who are OK with manual focus it's a good way to get a quality long lens on the (relatively) cheap.

Nice!  It looks pretty good.
Are you in CA? I'm from the Riverside area. I see these guys a lot in some of my favorite places for wildlife. The other day I walked up within 10 feet of one but didn't realize it until it took off - I was too busy looking at the ground for snakes!
