I wanted to buy a Tamron 15 30 2.8 with a nikon fitting.

Hi All.

I am currently in Las Palmas, in the Canaries.

I went to the local professional photo shop.

( Las Palmas is a working city, not like the cheap shops in the tourist areas in the south )

As my wife has a Nikon, and the Sony mount is not  yet available, for the Tamron 15 - 30  2.8.

Which will not work, anyway..... because the A7 ll  is a Sony E mount, and the Tamron will come with a Sony A mount...... so you still need an adapter!

I wanted to buy the Tamron  15- 30 ; with a nikon mount, along with a Sony E mount  to Nikon F adapter.

That way we could  both use  the  lens..

Well the  boss burst into a great outpouring of Spanish, that I could not understand.

Finally he got one of the younger guys, to come over, and  explain briefly ...about the adapter and Tamron  - Nikon mount

This is no good !   This will not work !

So they put the lens and adapter away, and left me wondering.

What were they on about ?

Is the Sony A7 ll  a bad camera, or is the Tamron 15 - 30 2.8   a bad lens ?

AH, OK, I HAVE JUST FOUND A  NEWER   REVIEW THAT STATES :

THIS LENS DOES NOT WORK WELL WITH E MOUNTS.

YUK

Wally

A7 is a good camera and 15-30 is an excellent lens. The safest way is to buy a Tammy with A mount so you can use a native Sony adapter to use this lens on your A7. If you buy an EF mount version, you might get AF via a metabone adapter but no so sure if the focus is fast enough or it can lock on focus. There is no working adapter to use this lens with F mount. This is simply because Nikon does not all us to use their lenses rather than technical impossibility.
