Prime lens for A7R

Looking for a prime lens that has around the FL of around 50 or more. I don't really want fantastic or A grade IQ just something decent that I can autofocus with on my A7R. Also hope that the AF isn't too bad Is it recommended if I adapt a APSC E mount lens on use crop mode? Thanks!

i would not recommend to use apsc lenses on the A7.

Better to go with A-mount FF lenses, for example Minolta AF 50mm 1.7 (or 1.4) or Sigma 50mm 1.4 and LAEA 4 lensadapter.

The LAE4 is so expensive that such

dollars would be better put toward

purchase of an FE mount lens, cuz

AF normal lenses don't come cheap.

 

Unless ... you fully intend to use

a number of A-mount lenses, which

then justifies the cost of the LAE4.

 

I use a 50/1.7 A-mount on an LAE2

and the AF is quite good but does

require micro-adjustments. It's not

state-of-the-art AF but it's quick, not

creepy slow like so many Canon EF

lenses on adapters for AF Sonys.

 

The LAE2 wasn't cheap in its day but

I already had a dozen A-mount lenses

to justify acquiring it.

I have the zeiss 35mm f/2.8 on my a7r and love it. Light combo. if you want 50mm then the zeiss 55mm f/1.8 would fit the bill.

I was looking at the 35mm too but how's the AF?

if you look for 35mm maybe 28mm is o.k. too? The FE 28mm f2 is awesome and not so expensive and is 1 stop faster than the zeiss 35mm.

 

I use the laea 2 too and af is very fast and accurate with my camera, but it has light vignetting, adapter was used around 150€ + 100€ for the 50mm 1.7 used  is 250€

 

this is much cheaper than the FE55 !

 

awesome lens for this combination with the laea2 is the SAL90f28 and, it is very cheap too. Also some Sigma A-mount lenses have built in optic

stabilisation that work very good with laea2 ...but be aware of the vignetting on the A7 FF. it is not much but it is there

i looked at ebay...you can get the LA-EA4 for 260€ used...the FE 55 is a awesome lens but it is around 800!
