A7ii and LA-EA3 adapter: fully functional phase detection?

There are recent posts explaining how the LA-EA3 A- to E-mount adapter will provide fast phase detection autofocus on an A7Rii body.  Perhaps an obvious question, but I'll ask anyway: does this combo also provide fast auto-focus an A7ii?  After all, the non-R mark ii model also has phase detection on-sensor, albeit not as many points as the R mark ii.  It would be nice if the less expensive Sony adapter is also effective on the less expensive body.
