A7rii EVF with Smart Remote Control?

Hi!

 

just got my A7rii and I am trying to shoot "tethered" to my iPad.. works otherwise fine but I cannot use camera's EVF when connected to iPad, it stays just black when lifting the camera to my eye,  only the monitor works when connected to iPad via wifi.

In normal shooting automatic switching between EVF and monitor works fine, just not when using Smart Remote Control.

 

When doing the same with my A7s both EVF and monitor are usable.

 

Does anyone have any idea how to make it work, or is it even possible with current FW?

Did you try all three settings in the

EVF/monitor either/or/auto selector

in the menu ? No reason to question

does it makes sense. Making sense

is alien to firmware. Just try all three.

I made some tripod shots yesterday with a wireless remote. when I was looking through the EVF I couldnt release over the remote too.

didn't more testings because it's a no-issue for me.

yeah I tried all 3 modes, auto, viewfinder (manual) and monitor (manual)

 

For example if I select "viewfinder (manual)", only the EVF is active as it should be until i create connection to my iPad or iPhone running Play Memories. As soon the connection to the iPad is established the camera's EVF goes black and the monitor turns on.

 

This does not happen with A7S.
