Sony A mount to NEX E mount - which one?

As the owner of an NEX 7, I would like to be able to mount the very good Sony A 16-50 f 2.8 SSM lens, and am confused as to which Sony adapter to use - there are 4 I believe - 2 for full frame E mounts and 2 for APS C E Mounts like the NEX 7.

This lens has a focus motor built-in so I was a bit confused when a B&H sales guy said in order to have the lens auto focus on the NEX, I would need the LEA 4 adapter which has a focus motor as well - with that set up I would have 2 focus motors? That sounds wrong. That motorized adapter also seems to be for the full frame E mounts like the A-7...?

I understand this lens can be used manually to focus with "dumb" adapters like the one I use for my manual Nikkor lens.

If anyone has any insight into the best way to make that lens (or any A mount lens) work with the NEX 7 (and retain auto focus) please let me know.

Thanks,

Robert

If the lens has an internal focus motor and the NEX-7 has an APS sized sensor, the lowest priced LA-EA1 will work just fine. :)

LA-EA1 APS sized opening for a-mount lenses that have internal focus motors or both SAM or SSM lenses

LA-EA2 APS sized opening for a-mount lenses that have the camera driven focus mechanism. The LA-EA2 has a transparent mirror and drive motor in it for focusing with older mechanical lenses. it will also work with SAM and SSM lenses.*

LA-EA3 Same as the LA-EA1 but with Full Framed opening

LA-EA4 Same as the LA-EA2 but with Full Framed opening.

ALL will work with the NEX-7 and the SAL1650.

If you intend to some day get a full framed e-mount camera and possibly use older A-mount mechanical lenses, then the LA-EA4 is the way to go.

* Occasionally Sony will have firmware lens compatibility updates for use with the LA-EA2 and LA-EA4

Side note: I once owned the SAL1650 f2.8. If is for sure a very good lens.
